Set in a peaceful rural location on the edge of the village of Dallington, Carricks Brook is home to 12 residents with Autism and challenging behavior, supported by a high ratio of specialist trained support staff.
Carricks Brook provides specialist support for adults with Autism, Learning Disabilities and challenging needs.
Opened in August 2009 Carricks Brook has 12 en-suite bedrooms, with bright, open communal areas that allow staff to balance our residents changing needs. The rural setting of the home offers a retreat for those who benefit from a private & peaceful environment.
The service is staffed by a high ratio of support staff specifically trained to enable clients who present with challenging behaviour to reach their full potential using varied techniques. Tailored to the individual, these may include: Applied Behaviour Analysis, TEACCH, Picture Exchange Communication System, Social Stories & S.T.O.P & Relax techniques.
We employ our own in-house trainer in N.A.P.P.I. techniques (Non-Abusive, Psychological and Physical Intervention), which enables us to create & implement highly individual & effective Positive Behaviour Support plans.
Residents at Carricks Brook are supported to engage fully in their local community. Day Services are offered both within the home and in the community on a 1:1 basis. Activities include, swimming, riding, farm visits, walking, cinema & pub trips. Massage, music, IT, gardening and cookery sessions are all offered within the home on a weekly basis. Residents who are able have secured work on a voluntary basis, whilst others attend college courses.
